The 2007 Sprint Series Finals and U.S. Relay Championships, Sept. 22-23




Day 1, 2007 Sprint Series Finals (A-meet sanctioned)

§         Date: Saturday, September 22, 2007

§         Location: Cranbury Park, Norwalk, CT 

§        Courses: Two sanctioned sprints (A and B) with interval starts, awards on a combined time basis. For each sprint, there are three courses: white/yellow, orange/brown/green, and red/blue. There will be a third non-sanctioned, spectator-friendly, not-to-be-missed, forked/looped sprint for the top 6 men and 6 women only to determine the Sprint Series Champions. You can run this third sprint after the champions run for a $10 donation to the team. Each sanctioned sprint (A and B) will be worth 100 points for the purposes of determining who goes onto the champion sprint.

§         Course setter: Joe Brautigam

§         Map Information: 1:4,000, 1.5 meter contours

§        Terrain: Urban park with open fields, woodland groves, extensive trail network, Frisbee golf course, playground all centered around the 18th century Gallagher Mansion

§        Mappers: originally mapped in 2005 by Neil Bostrom, updated in 2007 by Joe Brautigam

Day 2, U.S. Relay Championships

§         Date: Sunday, September 23, 2007

§         Location: Osbornedale State Park, Derby, CT

§         Courses: We will use the same 4-person 4/8/12 point system that has been used in recent years. The championship event is open to anyone, however, you must be a USOF member and meet citizenship, residency and club membership requirements in order to win championship awards.  See USOF rules sections A-5 and L for more details.  Relay point system is similar to that used in recent years (and identical to 2006).  Each team must turn in a team entry form.  Team members must be finalized and forms turned in by 2 pm Saturday.

§         Course setter: Peter Gagarin

§         Map Information: 1:10,000, 5 meter contours

§         Terrain: Urban park with open fields, open woods with detailed topography and a network of trails.
