Meet Director: Ed White
Like the days before, June 29th dawned hot and muggy but competitors were spared the worst of the heat by a thunderstorm that dumped an hour of rain just before the start opened and lowered the temperature by 10 degrees.  Forty-nine individuals or teams braved the raised water table and subsequent hordes of mosquitos.  On White, a young Huntingdon neighbor, Rob Gorman, charged around the course to a win with his father in tow.  Adventure racer Andy Atherton tried orienteering for the first time and claimed the fastest time by less than two minutes on a difficult Yellow course.  Ben Dailey of LIOC was the class of the field on Orange and young Erin Schirm of HVO won by six minutes on Green.  On Red, Pavlina Brautigam eked out a 26 second win over Henrik Thomson, a Swede running for LIOC.
The most difficult leg of the day was reportedly from #3 to #4 on both the Green and Red courses.  Most competitors used a large cliff to the north of the control as a handrail and attackpoint but many were sucked down the reentrant to the northeast of the control ending up two contours and a cliff too low.  Many thanks to George and Lyn Walker for all their help, particularly control pickup (along with Michael Butterworth, Viktoria Brautigam and Hilary Saeger) - you saved the hobbled meet director!
