Go to – File – New Projection
Give you country as a title – change years to a "First Year" of 2000 and a "Final Year" of 2050.
Hit the Projection file name, and enter your country as a file name.
You can save it on your flash drive, or in the default directory – but then you need to note the number of your laptop.
Then hit the "Easyproj" button and select
your country's name.
Hit "ok"
Go to -- Edit – Demography (Demproj)
Hit the "Demographic Data" tab.
Go to the "Total fertility rate" tab.
Click on the year 2000 box and enter a
"0". Click and holding down mouse button move to the right until
you hit the your 2050. Let go of the mouse button and hit the
"Duplicate" key on the bottom row. You have now "cleared"
preexisting values from the TFR entry table.
Enter for each five year period the TFR value
from your
Table 7-1 in the appropriate year box.
You will have to replace the numbers that are already in each
years box. You will be "skipping" for now the individual years between
each value. When you are finished, go
back to the year 2000 and "highlight" from that year through 2005 and
then hit the interpolation key. Values
should be filled in for the years 2001-2004.
Repeat this procedure through the year 2050.
Make sure there is a value in each year's
box.
Go to the "Life Expectancy" tab
Repeat the procedure above with your Table 7-1 male and female life expectancy values. First "clear" the preexisting values and they replace them with your own. Remember, this program will not allow you to enter a life expectancy value above 87.5. If you have any value above that level on your Table 7-1, just make it 87.5.
Go to the "International Migration" tab
You are now ready to project your population.
Hit the "ok" button.
Hit the "close" button.
This is a good time to go to "File" and "Save" your projection.

This table you first have to copy and paste
into Excel. "Select" all the data and then
"copy"
it. Open up your Word file and paste it in.
(Check to make sure that
all the numbers are showing up. You might have to change the
width of columes in Excel to make sure that the numbers can be seen.)
It might "run-over" two pages.
If you want, you can copy and insert the row with the years in it to the second page of the table to make that easier to read.
This summary table has LOTS of interesting measures that you should recognize and be able to discuss.
