instructions for either driving or taking the train/subway:
If you are driving, come down I-95 or Rt 15 and follow signs to the Triboro Bridge. Look for the exit onto the FDR Drive (East-Side Drive). You can exit the FDR drive either at Exit 5 or Exit 4 (see map). There is a municipal parking garage at 105 Essex Street (see map).
If you take the train to Grand Central Terminal, then get on the downtown Lexington Avenue line (green line) and get off at the Spring Street station. You should then walk eastward to get to the museum.
The places at which we ate are identified on the map. Orchard street between Delancy and Houston is where most the of stores are located. This is a wonderful part of Manhattan. Explore.
