Faculty Web Server FAQs:
- How can I get an account on this server?
Send an e-mail to cns@mail.fairfield.edu from your Exchange mail account (the one that ends with @mail.fairfield.edu)
and simply tell us that you're requesting web space on the Faculty Web
Server along with the department in which you work. Someone will
contact you via e-mail when your account is set up.
- How do I get my web pages from my computer up to the server?
The faculty web server uses the FTP protocol to move files back and forth. This can be accomplished from within Internet Explorer on a Windows computer or by using
an FTP program such as WS-FTP (installed by default on all University PCs). For assistance with using FTP, please contact Computing & Network Services at x4069.
- Can I update my web pages from off campus as well as from on campus?
Yes, you can use the same method for connecting to the web server from
on campus or off campus.
- Where do I go if I have further questions?
Call C&NS at x4069 or e-mail us at cns@mail.fairfield.edu. Make sure you mention that you're looking for help with the Faculty Web Server so your call will be
directed to the right person.
